Holland Park State School
Year 3 Class
Holland Park State School is located in an inner city area South of Brisbane CBD. It is an area of renewal with many older Queenslander style of houses currently being renovated by families with young children. It is a middle to higher income area. Our school is 75 years old and reflects the architecture of the time it was built - any additions have been built in keeping with this style. 3B has 25 students mostly of white anglo-saxon (European) origins. 3C has 24 students with the same ethnicity. Our school overall follows the same pattern with larger numbers of students from Greek and Asian origins. During Term 3 we have been studying cultural diversity focussing on our Pacific and Asian neighbours. Seville Road is a small multicultural school located in Mt Gravatt in Brisbane. It consists of about 130 students of 6 classes which are mostly combined grades. Students in the middle school at Seville Road State School have in 2003 done more on computers than at any other time in the last 5 years. Having become proficient at basic e-mailing skills it is time to go on to the next step - "live chats". With a variety of computer skills within the class students it is the aim for students to be equipped with the necessary computer skills so that they can eventually chat with others outside the school.
